Home / Bookkeeping
Nine ways we handle the day-to-day accounting, from a monthly close to rebuilding three years nobody recorded.
Bookkeeping is the foundation everything else stands on. Reporting built on unreconciled books is confident and wrong, advice built on it is worse, and anything your outside partner has to build on it costs you twice, once to produce and again to correct.
This is the largest part of what we do. Most clients arrive needing one of two things: their books brought back from behind, or their books taken off their hands so they stop being an evening job. Both start the same way, with someone reading the file properly before touching it.
Every engagement runs on QuickBooks Online unless you already have something that works, and every partner in the firm is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor. What you get back is a reconciled file, a closed period, and statements that hold up when someone outside the business reads them.
Each of these is a service in its own right. Most clients use two or three of them together.
A full close every month. Transactions coded, every account reconciled to the statement, the period locked, and statements delivered on a fixed date. This is the default once you have staff, outside readers, or decisions being made on the numbers.
Read about it →The same close run four times a year instead of twelve, which suits businesses with modest volume and nobody waiting on monthly figures. Reviewing three months together also tends to surface duplicate charges a single month can hide.
Read about it →A full year built, reconciled and closed in one engagement. Right for holding companies, dormant entities, and very small operations that need the year finished properly and nothing in between.
Read about it →Missing months rebuilt from bank and card history, existing errors corrected, and everything reconciled forward to current. This is the most common reason owners get in touch, and no version of the conversation involves a lecture.
Read about it →A file configured around how your business actually earns and spends, with feeds, rules, payroll mapping and opening balances all proved, then managed month to month so it stays that way.
Read about it →The reconciliation piece on its own, for businesses that code their own transactions but want every account independently tied to the statement and any difference traced to source.
Read about it →Profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow prepared from closed books and formatted for whoever has to read them, whether that is a bank, a partner, or your outside tax partner.
Read about it →The wider finance stack rather than one product. Platform selection, configuration, integrations tested on live transactions, and someone who owns it when a connection fails quietly.
Read about it →For a file where nothing is missing but plenty is miscoded. Bulk reclassification, duplicates and double-counted transfers removed, and the balance sheet accounts finally proved.
Read about it →Bookkeeping runs fully remote, so location affects the relationship rather than the work. Clients across the Austin metro, San Diego County and the rest of the country get the same service, through secure document sharing and scheduled screen-share reviews.
Once the books close reliably, reporting turns them into something you can steer by.
